Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL)
Use the Tennessee Electronic Library to find full-text magazine, journal, newspaper, and reference book articles and citations on a wide range of topics. TEL includes:
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library, a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and other reference sources, plus the General Reference Center Gold, a general interest database integrating a variety of reference sources.
  • Health and Wellness Resource Center includes magazines, journals, newspapers, definitions, directories, videos and information on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, Prescription Drugs, etc. Included are links to diet, cancer, and health assessment sites as well as government databases.
  • General OneFile, with access to millions of full-text magazine and journal articles on a wide range of topics.
  • Kids InfoBits, meeting the research needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 5, with information on current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more.
  • Literature Resource Center, includes full-text journal articles, literary criticism, reviews, biographical information, and overviews on thousands of writers. Also includes the Twayne Authors Series and the Scribner Writers Series.
  • What Do I Read Next? includes more than 130,000 recommended titles, more than 74,000 plot summaries, and awards information from 568 awards.
  • Books & Authors combines more than 140,000 titles, 50,000 authors, and thousands of read-alike, award winner, and librarian's favorites lists to help bring readers and literature together. Several other databases geared toward particular subject matter, such as general reference, biographies, business, health, literature, technology, southern life, and philosophy, plus databases designed for children, middle school students, high school students, and college students.

  • - Tennessee's new school readiness model explains that, in order for children to be "ready" to enter kindergarden, families, communities, and school must work together. 

Biography in Context offers more than 600,000 biographies covering more than 525,000 individuals, including integrated reference material, periodical information, and multimedia content. To access from outside the library, you will be required to enter your library card number.

LearningExpress Library is a comprehensive, interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help both students and adult learners succeed on academic or licensing tests. You get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results. Includes materials for civil service exams, GED, ACT, SAT, and dozens of other tests and tutorials. This resources is offered as part of the Tennessee Electronic Library. You will be asked to create a username and password, to enable the system to track your progress and test history.
